Mindfulness is all about noticing things, and one of the things I’ve been noticing has me rather puzzled. I don’t seem to want my dinner any more.
I’m the one who cooks in our tiny household, and generally our meals are rice based. I’ve always measured rice because the amount of water needs to be exact, so I know I cook less rice now than I used to.
And still it is too much.
For the last two or three evenings, with me being all extra mindful again, I’ve noticed that I only eat about 2/3rds before feeling full. It seems that a rice bowl (that’s two cups) of rice-with-stirfried-veg is actually too much for dinner, even though I won’t have eaten anything of note since lunch 6 or 7 hours before. (I have a snack at 4, but it’s literally two oaty crackers or something, I don’t think that makes a big difference.)
So maybe it’s not just the biscuits and the snacky chocolate and the ricecakes with peanut butter. Maybe I eat meals that are too big for me, because I serve myself normal size meals when actually, I eat like a bird.
Interesting.
I will experiment with cooking smaller meals, instead of letting The Dave hoover up anything I don’t eat (I’m sure shifting my excess weight to his frame won’t make either of us happier). And I will continue to keep an eye out for the feeling of enoughness, and watch I don’t eat the food that’s on my plate simply because it’s on my plate. (One of those things that sounds simple, but is actually quite hard.)

Willie! Sounds like you are eating like a yogi! Fantastic. Wish I could say the same, lol. I love your observations on food and eating. Have a splendid day. E
Eating like a yogi? Hm, depends on what kind. Are yogis allowed battenberg?
^__^ Thanks for commenting, glad u like!
I love your observations and you are a splendid writer! Oh, the talents! Great observations. I am eating less these days too, primarily because of the warmer weather. Is that part of it for you, or is it all of the mindfulness you’ve been participating in?
I guess it might be, Heather. I didn’t really think of that before, it makes sense though.
I’m kind of eating half dinners now, and it seems to work. :)
